Here is some information from Elementary Lead Team:
- Fifth grade DOES have Wacky Wednesday this coming Wed, September 5. Fourth grade is the following week. The document has been updated in the Wednesday Schedule document on Google Docs - please refer to this and mark your calendar.
- We will have DPPs this year rather than IPDPs. This was covered in pre-planning. If you have questions, please review those documents. More information will be forthcoming and Ashley will be working with us individually to help with writing these. You will be choosing one element to work on.
- Wednesdays designated as "Individual DPP/Inquiry" are for individual work towards meeting the goals established in number 2. This time is being given recognizing that we need time to do the work. These Wednesdays are essentially "individual planning". However, please note that if you schedule appointments off campus during this time, you will need to fill out a leave form as this is still contracted work time.
- We are going to use the first few Wednesdays for logistics. This time will be structured, but will be devoted for us to help get through some of our logistical issues. Planning will also happen here, but it isn't going to be specifically devoted to "Math," "Reading," etc. BUT THIS TIME WILL NOT BE INDIVIDUAL PLANNING TIME - IT IS NOT AN "OFF" WEDNESDAY.
- We will be getting Emergency contact info from Skyward. We will be receiving one copy for each of us with our Advisory on it. We will be receiving a 4th grade list and a 5th grade list. This is for afternoon dismissal.
- Interns will not be given keys.
- Interns will be subs ONLY in case of emergencies.
- We need to work out our structure of Open House. Possibly stations rotations with Skyward, Website navigation, question/answer, etc. This would hopefully alleviate some of the "conferences," and sit-and-get kind of thing. It would also eliminate the need for "rotations". Times will be TBA.
- Laminator now in K-1 kitchen. Please only laminate before and after school. It makes a loud noise and is distracting during the day. Also, only send someone who is trained. K-1 teachers aren't trainers.
- We need to decide where we want bulletin boards ASAP.
- Discipline
- as we wait for skyward training from nefec....
- If it’s not an emergency but needs a referral - teacher fills out referral - sends referral to dean’s office
- dean acts on it
- dean contacts parent
- copy of referral goes with kid/home
- copy of referral with action taken
- goes to teacher
- the action taken will be documented on the referral
- student will bring referral back to school with parent sig and teacher send referral to dean
- if it’s an emergency, push button, call us, radio (then it goes through the whole process)
- teachers need to put together a generic packet for each grade level
- then if teachers need to send more work, they will get that to ISS later but at least the kid will have work to start on
An addendum: Open House will not include the PAC portion. It will be 5:30-6:30 in the elementary building. :D
